Configure DNS Server


 How to configure local DNS Server:

  • bind   rpm is required to configure dns. Check them for install if not found install them.


  •  Set hostname to www.iwayq.com  and ip address to 192.168.1.50


  • Edit /etc/named.conf   and  configure Name server  Ip ,Listen Port ,  allow-query  details  as  below

 

  • Include  /etc/named.rfc1912.zones file 


  • Create “iwayQ.com”  &  “1.168.192”  zone  details in  the  /etc/named.rfc1912.zone   file  as  below

  • Configure zone files:
    • “/var/named”  is  the  default  directory  for  zone  files,  hence  need  to  create “forward.zone  &  reverse.zone  files  under  /var/named directory.
    • Create  Forward lookup  zone &  reverse  look up  zone  files  under  /var/named  directory



  • Verify  the  configuration  and  zone  files  syntax


  • Restart the DNS  service-  named
