What is DNS?
DNS is the system service that is used to resolve an IP address to a hostname or vice versa.Linux system that is configured to resolve hostname to IP address globally is called DNS server.
Type of DNS servers:
Private DNS vs. Public DNS:
Private DNS
Private DNS server is accessable within the private network for clients access. DNS client and DNS server both are configured within the same private network for local domain resolutions.Private DNS servers are used to resolve private domain names/IPs
Public DNS
Public DNS server is accessable within the public internet for client access. DNS client and DNS servers are connected through internet. Public DNS servers are used to resolve internet domain names/IPs.
